Have you every thought to yourself I wish there were no problems in life! Or sometimes you think I could do with a few less problems. But if you think about it a bit, if there were no problems in life our lives would be quite boring and dull.
Problems represent challenges for us to over come and opportunities to progress from a status of where we are now to where we want to proceed to in the future. Problems can be used as a yard stick of how we progress in moving towards where we want to be in our lives.
I know myself I have often said I could quite easily do with a few less problems in my life! But the experts tell us that problems can be seen as opportunities and quite often some amazing things can appear out of the depth of despair.
Success and opportunity are both very sneaky characters and are often camouflaged in the midst of a huge challenge or problem we may be facing.
The trick is to decifer what opportunity is available in every adversity. Comcast Internet Deals . I know what your thinking if we could all do that we would all be millionaires or living in bliss. backlinks . In some cases I dont think it is quite that difficult, but it can be useful to have a few close friends or mastermind group to brainstorm or thrash out ideas to solve problems that we encounter. eco gifts . Women seem to be much better at this than guys and in essence are offten better at comming up with solutions to problems. We have all heard the expression I’ll sleep on it, meaning that we somtimes need to take time to ponder on possible solutions to our particular problem.
Persistence is another word that comes to mind when talking about solving problems, I am sure that most of us has heard of or even experienced that if we had pushed that little bit further we could have solved that problem that we were facing.
Another important factor to think about when solving problems is the ability to have faith in ourselves to come up with a favourable solution, the ability to believe in ourselves and our own ability to come up with a solution and realise the hidden opportunity in each and every problem.
I would like to share a few quotes “Its not what happens to you that determines how far you will go in life; it is how you handle what happens to you.
You cannot tailor make the situations in life, but you can tailor make the attitudes to fit those situations before they arise.
So the next time you face a challenge, don’t despair as this could be that golden opportunity in disguise that you have always been looking for.
We should also be grateful that we have the ability to experience challenges as this is a sign of life!
I would like to know your thoughts on how you deal with problems.

Right on Stan. I’ve decided to remove the word “problem” from my everyday vocabulary and replace it with “challenge”. It tends to invoke a sense of hope and solution-oriented thinking. Indeed life would be boring and dull if we had no contrast provided by challenges – life would be mediocre all the time. Yeah bring them on!

Yes Phil your right about choosing ones language carefully, its something I am guilty of from time to time, just a simple change of words can have an amazing impact on how we see life, with all the negative media we need to look for posative thinking that promotes hope. Somtimes in the midst of adversity it can be quite difficult to look for the light.
Thanks for your insight

Hey there Stan. I have a bit of a, wait and see what comes next policy. The theory is that we are always on the cutting edge of our life. I find that if I breathe first and wait a bit, and maybe breathe again to settle my body I begin to dilute my reaction. I like to look at difficult, challenging situations and allow the solution to be presented to me, by me. Carrying out the solution is my next task and this is where that “being comfortable being uncomfortable” thing happens. Because I follow a bit of a system, and I know that my action will create another that I will need to deal with (we are at cause)I really am persistent in being relaxed and patient regardless of whatever. This actually makes people quite angry with me sometimes and they tell me I am strange because don’t react like I ‘should’. To me what comes next is the main thing because I know I create it now and if whatever just happened was bad and a real problem I definitely don’t want to become an amplifier! Cheers, Andy.

Hi Andy, I agree with your thoughts about being part of an evolving process, it is always wise to take a step back before reacting, something that I have not always practised. In some cases my wife labels me as being abnormal. I call it being a bit different nothing special just like to look at the flip side of every situation. Being at cause is certainly a good place to be, cant say that I have mastered this but I do my best. I like your philosopy of being calm and relaxed in every situation this is something that I can say I have improved on over time.
I wouldnt worry about people labeling you as strange, as what is strange anway, you have to respond as you see fit to each situation its as simple as that and I agree if something bad goes down you dont want to add to the problem. I like the theory of being on the cutting edge of life that has to be a good title for a Blog. Thanks for comments Stan.

I first heard the quote “No problems, only opportunities” when I read “Pyscho-Cybernetics” by Maxwell Maltz over twenty years ago. It wasn’t his quote, he used it in the book, but it was the first time I had heard of such a concept. I was so taken with it that I very rarely say “I have a problem” but “I have an opportunity”! It’s interesting how that makes the situation a lot less daunting.

Hi Kathy, Pyscho-Cybernetics I have’nt heard of that book it sounds worth while, I imagine it has to do with the retraining of your mind to have posative thoughts. I agree that we need to be careful with the words we use by changing problems into oportunities, this can have a huge impact on how we see the world.
Another blogger pointed out to me an important concept – without friction there can be no moment. You are absolutely right in every adversity there is always something that we can learn or improve on. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

Having a problem free world will be biggest problem in itself. I understand the importance of problems because if I look back, everything I have learned is because of problems!
I am kind of guy who will do his best to solve any problem and sit back only after finding a solution and it has taught me a lot!

Hi Ishan
I couldnt agree more, problems are a major part of defining us as people and its from problems that we can have those break through moments.
Abubakar phrased it perfectly with his one sentence – without friction there can be no movement.
Also I agree having a problem free world is more than likely to create many other issues and it is always good to reflect on what we have learnt through solving different issues as they arise.
Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment.

Beautifully written Stan.
And if I may put it in one sentence—without friction there can be no movement.

Hi Abubaker, Wow that’s a powerful statement, I never thought of that but its very true, to move anything there has to be friction otherwise the status quo will remain the same thanks for taking the time to leave a comment.

Problems are the rocks on the life mountain we climb. When climbing any mountain, we curse the rocks…they obstruct our path, small ones roll from underfoot tripping us up…but when approaching the summit, we look back and realize that, more than anything else, the rocks were handholds and that we’d never have made it up a smooth, unobstructed path.

Hey Bob, Great perspective on I wish there were no problems, it is very true what you have shared about the obstructions “rocks” give us something to hold onto and are part of the process that stops us from falling down. Sometimes in the heat of the battle or the struggle to find the next foothold it is easy to loose perspective.
The obstructions make the journey worth it when we make it to the top and look back. Thank you for your thoughts.

In the grand scheme of things you’ll secure a B- for effort and hard work. Where exactly you confused me ended up being in your facts. As they say, the devil is in the details… And that couldn’t be more correct at this point. Having said that, permit me reveal to you precisely what did work. The text is certainly quite engaging which is most likely why I am taking the effort in order to comment. I do not make it a regular habit of doing that. Next, whilst I can notice the jumps in reasoning you come up with, I am definitely not confident of exactly how you seem to unite your points which inturn produce the conclusion. For the moment I shall subscribe to your point however hope in the future you link the dots much better.
